PRIVACY POLICY

1. INTRODUCTION Rise: Morning App Blocker, formerly "Rise: Morning Routine" ("we," "us," or "our"), respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, and disclose your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

By downloading or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE IT The App requires access to specific device features to function. Rise is offered as a paid subscription with a free trial for eligible customers, so we also process purchase status. Analytics and advertising measurement are optional and only take place if you allow them, as described below.

A. Apple Health Data (Steps)

  • What we collect: With your explicit permission, the App accesses your Step Count data via Apple HealthKit.
  • How we use it: We use this data strictly to verify that you have walked the required number of steps (e.g., 100 steps) to unlock your device as part of your morning routine.
  • Important HealthKit Disclaimer: We do not collect, store, share, or sell your HealthKit data to third parties for advertising, marketing, or data mining purposes. The step data is processed locally on your device to trigger the unlock mechanism.

B. Camera and Image Data

  • What we collect: If you choose the "photo unlock" method, the App requires access to your device's camera to capture an image of a specific object (e.g., a coffee cup, outside scenery, toothbrush).
  • How we use it: This image is transmitted to a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) to verify the contents of the image.
  • Data Storage: We do not store your photos on our servers. The image is captured, sent securely for verification, and then immediately discarded by our App.

C. Screen Time and App Usage Data

  • What we collect: The App utilizes Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls) to restrict access to other applications (e.g., social media) on your device.
  • How we use it: We use this access solely to lock and unlock the applications you select. We do not track your activity within other applications, nor do we collect data about your browsing history, communications, or usage habits inside restricted apps.

D. Subscriptions and Purchase Information

  • Apple processes your payment. Rise is sold through the App Store. Apple processes subscription payments and reviews refund requests. We do not receive or store your payment-card details, and we cannot see your full billing information.
  • Purchase verification (RevenueCat): We use RevenueCat to verify your purchase status and to provide purchase restoration and subscription support. RevenueCat processes a generated app-user identifier and purchase information, such as the product purchased, transaction identifier, billing period, store, and subscription status.
  • No account required: You do not need to create a Rise account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or password in order to subscribe.
  • About these identifiers: The app-user identifier is generated by the App rather than taken from your Apple Account. It is pseudonymous, which reduces but does not eliminate the possibility of you being identified. It is not an assurance of anonymity.

E. Optional App Usage Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

  • Your choice: App usage analytics are optional. We only collect them if you allow app usage analytics in the App. You can change your choice at any time under Manage Subscription.
  • What we collect if you allow it: Google Analytics for Firebase collects app usage events (such as first opens, sessions, onboarding steps, and checkout exposure), a Firebase installation identifier, device and app information, and approximate location derived from IP addresses.
  • How we use it: We use it to understand how people move through onboarding and checkout, and how subscriptions perform. The Firebase installation identifier connects your consented app events with subscription lifecycle events, including trial starts, payments, renewals, cancellations, expiration, and refunds.
  • Your routine does not depend on it: Rise works normally if you decline analytics.

F. Optional Advertising Measurement

  • Your choice: Advertising measurement is a separate, additional permission. It applies only if you allow advertising measurement in the App and authorize Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. The iOS advertising identifier (IDFA) is only available to us if you grant that tracking permission.
  • How we use it: Where you have allowed it, consented data may be used through Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand which advertisements lead to subscriptions.
  • No advertising personalization: Advertising personalization is disabled in this implementation. We do not use this data to build remarketing audiences or to personalize ads to you.
  • Facebook SDK: The Facebook SDK for iOS remains bundled in the App and its privacy manifest is included in our build. Automatic Facebook app-event logging and advertiser-identifier collection are disabled in this release, and we do not send subscription reporting to Meta. If we re-enable these in a future release, we will update this policy first.
  • Withdrawing consent: You can withdraw analytics or advertising permission at any time. Withdrawing consent stops future optional reporting once your updated preference reaches our services. It does not recall reports that have already been sent.

G. Information That Is Never Used for Subscriptions, Analytics, or Advertising

  • Names you enter during setup, the apps you select to block, your wake schedules, your step data, and your morning photos are not included in subscription analytics or advertising events.
  • Photo unlocks are a separate process. As described in section B, photos are sent to OpenAI for verification and are not retained by us. They do not stay only on your device, and they are never used for analytics or advertising.

H. Reminder Notifications

  • Trial renewal reminders are optional local notifications scheduled on your device, using the verified subscription expiration date and your notification permission. They are not sent from our servers and are not used to track you.
  • These reminders are a convenience only. You remain responsible for cancelling on time in Apple's subscription settings.

3. THIRD-PARTY PROCESSING We share information with the following third parties to provide the App and for the subscription, analytics, and advertising purposes described in this policy:

  • Apple: We utilize Apple's ecosystem for HealthKit, the Screen Time API, App Store distribution and analytics, and subscription billing. Apple processes your payment and reviews refund requests under its own privacy policy.
  • RevenueCat: Purchase and subscription status information is processed by RevenueCat, Inc. so that we can verify entitlements, restore purchases, and provide subscription support. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • OpenAI: When you take a photo to unlock your phone, the image is sent via a secure API to OpenAI for image recognition.
    • OpenAI Data Retention: According to OpenAI's current enterprise and API privacy standards, data sent via their API is retained for a maximum of 30 days for abuse monitoring purposes and is not used to train their AI models.
  • Google (Firebase Analytics and Google Ads): If you allow optional analytics or advertising measurement, Google processes that data on its servers, which may be outside your country. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Meta (Facebook): The Facebook SDK for iOS is bundled in the App, but automatic app-event logging and advertiser-identifier collection are disabled in this release and we do not send subscription reporting to Meta. If that changes, we will update this policy and our App Store privacy disclosures first. Meta's practices are described in their Data Use Policy and Privacy Policy.

4. DATA RETENTION Because our app processes most data locally or ephemerally (temporarily):

  • Health Data: Processed locally on your device. We do not retain it.
  • Images: Transmitted for verification and not retained by us.
  • App Settings: Your routine preferences (e.g., which apps to block) are stored locally on your device. If you delete the App, this data is erased.
  • Purchase and Subscription Records: Apple and RevenueCat retain purchase records under their own retention rules. We may be required to keep purchase and accounting records to meet tax, accounting, and audit obligations, even after you cancel or delete the App.
  • Analytics Data: If you allowed analytics, Google retains that data according to our Analytics retention settings and its applicable policies. Uninstalling the App or withdrawing consent does not automatically delete data already sent to Google.

5. SECURITY We value your trust in providing us with your information. We use commercially reasonable security measures (such as encrypted API calls via HTTPS) to protect your data during transmission. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and reliable.

6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY Rise: Morning App Blocker is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we may take steps to remove that information.

7. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS (GDPR / CCPA) Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request the deletion of your personal data.
  • Withdraw consent to optional analytics and advertising measurement.
  • Opt-out of the "sale" of your personal data (Note: We do not sell your personal data).

How to exercise these rights, and what each action does:

  • Analytics and advertising consent can be changed at any time in the App under Manage Subscription, and tracking permission can be changed in iOS under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Google advertising preferences are available through My Ad Center.
  • "Delete all data" in the App removes your local routine data from your device. It does not cancel your Apple subscription.
  • Cancelling your subscription is done in your App Store subscription settings, not by deleting the App or its data. See our Terms of Service.
  • Uninstalling the App removes your local settings and routine preferences and stops further collection by the App. It does not automatically erase data already held by Apple, RevenueCat, Google, or other third parties, and it does not cancel a subscription.
  • For anything else, including access or deletion requests covering data held by our service providers, contact us at info@risemorningroutine.com and we will respond as required by applicable law. Required purchase and accounting records, and analytics reports already sent, may be retained by our service providers under their own retention rules.

8. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
