By downloading or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE IT The App requires access to specific device features to function. We operate under a "data minimization" principle, meaning we only collect the data absolutely necessary for the App to work.
A. Apple Health Data (Steps)
- What we collect: With your explicit permission, the App accesses your Step Count data via Apple HealthKit.
- How we use it: We use this data strictly to verify that you have walked the required number of steps (e.g., 100 steps) to unlock your device as part of your morning routine.
- Important HealthKit Disclaimer: We do not collect, store, share, or sell your HealthKit data to third parties for advertising, marketing, or data mining purposes. The step data is processed locally on your device to trigger the unlock mechanism.
B. Camera and Image Data
- What we collect: If you choose the "photo unlock" method, the App requires access to your device’s camera to capture an image of a specific object (e.g., a coffee cup, outside scenery, toothbrush).
- How we use it: This image is transmitted to a third-party AI provider (OpenAI) to verify the contents of the image.
- Data Storage: We do not store your photos on our servers. The image is captured, sent securely for verification, and then immediately discarded by our App.
C. Screen Time and App Usage Data
- What we collect: The App utilizes Apple’s Screen Time API (Family Controls) to restrict access to other applications (e.g., social media) on your device.
- How we use it: We use this access solely to lock and unlock the applications you select. We do not track your activity within other applications, nor do we collect data about your browsing history, communications, or usage habits inside restricted apps.
D. Subscription and Payment Information
- The App offers a premium subscription with a 7-day free trial. All payments are processed entirely by Apple via your Apple ID. We do not collect, process, or store your credit card details, billing address, or financial information.
3. THIRD-PARTY PROCESSING We share your data with the following third-party service providers solely to facilitate the functionality of the App:
- OpenAI: When you take a photo to unlock your phone, the image is sent via a secure API to OpenAI for image recognition.
- OpenAI Data Retention: According to OpenAI’s current enterprise and API privacy standards, data sent via their API is retained for a maximum of 30 days for abuse monitoring purposes and is not used to train their AI models.
- Apple: We utilize Apple’s ecosystem for HealthKit, Screen Time API, analytics, and payment processing.
4. DATA RETENTION Because our app processes most data locally or ephemerally (temporarily):
- Health Data: Processed locally on your device. We do not retain it.
- Images: Transmitted for verification and not retained by us.
- App Settings: Your routine preferences (e.g., which apps to block) are stored locally on your device. If you delete the App, this data is erased.
5. SECURITY We value your trust in providing us with your information. We use commercially reasonable security measures (such as encrypted API calls via HTTPS) to protect your data during transmission. However, remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and reliable.
6. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY Rise: Morning Routine is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we may take steps to remove that information.
7. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS (GDPR / CCPA) Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request the deletion of your personal data.
- Opt-out of the "sale" of your personal data (Note: We do not sell your personal data).
Because we do not use accounts and data is processed locally, the most effective way to exercise your rights and erase your data is to uninstall the application and cancel your subscription via your Apple ID settings.
8. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
